What is it to you? You follow Me!

Our lives can get pretty messed up when we get caught in that comparison game without knowing the unique call, will, purpose and path that God has for each of us!
And Jesus response to Peter after he checks with Him about how John would die after learning about his own was:

John 21:21-22 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!”

I read this article on this topic.

Here are some notes from the Bible study that I share with a friend.. (probably needs  bit of grammatical corrections because they were sent on a messaging app).

John 21, 18 to 23  Jesus says truly truly that Peter could do whatever he wanted to when he was younger but when he is old he will stretch out his hands and someone else will dress him and carry him where he doesn't want to go (he was also crucified but upside down) and he tells Peter to "Follow Him"
Peter asks "what about this man," about John and Jesus says "what is it to you if I want him to be alive till my return "
 "You Follow Me"
Maybe Peter was worried or just curious if John also is going to suffer like him, but Jesus says that's not his concern
Many times we may compare our suffering to other people's blessing and think badly about ourself or God but it's not our duty to worry about such things. We need to fix our eyes on Jesus and Follow Him
Our goal is not to live someone else's life or do what we want or even compare other people's blessings to our lack. In fact Jesus says don't concern urself with God's will for someone else's life (meaning don't worry abt it). As it could be very different from yours .
Every person has a unique calling, unique way of death, unique purpose. We all need to Follow Jesus in our life individually
God places so much responsibility on our own actions and thoughts.Even on judgment we cannot say I did it because of someone else. We need to follow Jesus and take accountability for our own actions
In a way it's freeing to know that we are not to be someone else. We don't need to get caught up in success rat race of trying to be like someone else or reach someone else's goals. Our goal is to simply "finish the race with faith"," follow Jesus".
Amen and praise God!
